There’s a lot about Asian woman-ness coming up in my dreams. Expectations to perform gender (wearing dresses with a group of women) but also feeling exposed, vulnerable. There have also been many big men. And again, the men with the violence, and the threat.
And so much being by the ocean. Even a shark bite. It was a tiger shark? or alternately it was just orange? ^^ and lots of university/dorm dreams. These often come up with school anxiety, and with sense of belonging and social issues.
Clues are not always visible - sometimes only at low tide. A literal digging deeper to learn about risks.
This riverside and watershed has to do with it being upgraded from a tributary to a “river” recently, and proposed development along the banks, with economic growth as a stated goal. Beneficial use. Sound familiar? I’m learning about the history of Korean water management, through the Ministry of Construction (hmmm seems strange that the Ministry of Environment isn’t in charge of that one…)
The reeds in the riverbed have grown up where there used to be sand, due to increased organic matter from upstream farms/rice paddies. It’s not foreign to see the ecosystem changing in this way. I got to go on a delightful stroll along the water with an entomologist and two other teachers who showed us many species and shared many stories of the place.
